PRIVACY POLICY

LAST UPDATED: FEBRUARY 2026

TL;DR

Pascal reads your device's barometer and GPS altitude. All data stays on your devices (iPhone and Apple Watch). Nothing is sent to external servers. Nothing is shared. Nothing is sold. We literally cannot see your data.

// DATA WE COLLECT

Pascal collects atmospheric pressure readings from your device's built-in barometer sensor. These readings are processed and stored locally on your device.

The app also accesses your GPS altitude (not your geographic location) to calibrate pressure readings to sea-level equivalent. This altitude data is used solely for calibration calculations and is stored locally on your device.

// DATA WE DO NOT COLLECT

  • Geographic location (latitude/longitude)
  • Personal information
  • Device identifiers
  • Usage analytics
  • Anything, really

// DATA STORAGE

All pressure readings and calibration data are stored locally on your iPhone using iOS's secure storage mechanisms (App Group shared container).

Apple Watch displays data synced from your iPhone via WatchConnectivity. This sync occurs directly between your paired devices and never passes through external servers.

The app retains approximately 48 hours of pressure history in a rolling window. Older readings are automatically deleted to conserve storage space.

// THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

Pascal does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app does not connect to any external servers.

// PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED

MOTION & FITNESS

Required to access the barometer sensor (CMAltimeter). This sensor provides atmospheric pressure readings—the core function of the app.

LOCATION

Used to obtain GPS altitude for calibrating pressure to sea-level equivalent. This improves accuracy when you change elevation (climbing stairs, driving hills, etc.). Your geographic coordinates are not stored or transmitted.

BACKGROUND LOCATION

Optional. Enables pressure sampling when the app is not in the foreground, providing continuous monitoring for trend analysis. Your actual location is not tracked—only altitude is used for calibration.

// YOUR RIGHTS

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:

  • View your pressure history directly in the app's interactive chart
  • Export all data as CSV from the Settings menu
  • Delete all data using the Clear History button in Settings
  • Uninstall the app to remove all associated data

// CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Pascal does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Since no personal data is collected or transmitted, there is no age-specific data handling required.

// CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or App Store update notes.
